Storyhill’s leadership structure ensures mutual encouragement and accountability, preventing a one-person rule. The Session is comprised of Teaching Elders and Ruling Elders and acts to guard, oversee and be an example as they shepherd our body. A few critical matters, like acquiring land and calling of pastors and elders, require affirmation through Ministry Partner votes.

Teaching Elders are ordained by our Presbytery and serve in full-time ministry as called by our church. Ruling Elders are nominated and confirmed by Ministry Partners after a process of examination by the Elder Search Team (EST) for their leadership and character. Ruling Elders serve a three-year term before transitioning to an "Inactive Elder" role while remaining pivotal in Storyhill's well-being.

Billy Flippin

  • Billy helps us live out the heartbeat of Storyhill, bringing the hope of Jesus to our neighborhoods and the nations. He’s known for his big laugh, genuine care, and desire to see people step into God’s story. Billy and his wife have three kids: two high school boys and a college-aged daughter who keep them on their toes and their hearts full.

Gray Segars

  • Gray is a South Carolina native and a Clemson alum who is married to Annika and the father of three daughters. In his downtime, Gray enjoys reading C.S. Lewis's works, watching college sports, being an amateur movie critic, and making espresso drinks.

Cristian Pinto

  • Cris grew up in Cochabamba, Bolivia, and later completed seminary in Argentina before serving with Children’s Impact Network. He recently wrapped up the Davidson Fellows program, an experience that stretched his faith and taught him the beauty (and challenge!) of learning a new language and culture. His love for serving in missions at Storyhill is shaped by a lifetime of watching missionaries show God’s love in simple, meaningful ways and he can’t wait to share that same love with others.

Jordan Hart

  • Residing in Davidson with her husband Josh, toddler Harper, infant Jack, and Golden Retriever Cabin, Jordan delights in the simplicity of organized living, reflecting her Enneagram 1 personality. Her love for reading is apparent through her enjoyment of a fresh stack of library books, and she finds solace in leisurely walks around town, often with an oat milk latte in hand. Since 2017, Jordan has been passionately involved in youth ministry at Storyhill, actively participating in the growth and development of high school girls. Her dedication extends to facilitating connections for middle and high school students, and she warmly encourages inquiries, expressing genuine enthusiasm for providing support and guidance in this realm.

Katie Macturk

  • Rev. Katie Macturk, a Davidson College graduate with a Master of Divinity from Gordon-Conwell, found Storyhill to be a place where she deepened her faith and formed lasting connections. Now in college ministry, she’s committed to helping students find that same sense of belonging, whether they are exploring or committed to faith. Katie is passionate about missions, service, and justice, and loves seeing God's Kingdom grow. In her free time, she enjoys running, the beach, and helping others understand the Bible. She’s eager to connect, so feel free to reach out!

Lindsey Ammons

  • Lindsey, a proud cat mom of two and an extrovert who values togetherness, finds joy in life's simple pleasures: Taylor Swift music, her vibrant pen collection, copious coffee consumption, cat snuggles, laughter with friends, and game nights. Whether engaged in meaningful conversations over coffee or fostering opportunities for connection and relationships, Lindsey is passionate about people and believes in God's work through community. In her role as Youth Ministry Team Leader, Lindsey aims to create opportunities for the youth to develop deeper relationships, discover more about God, and understand their unique identities. She is excited to support their growth in friendship, both with each other and with the leaders, providing a safe space for questions and personal development in Christ.

Maggie Pope

  • Maggie excels in maintaining simplicity, efficient schedules, and fostering success. All of these are valuable skills when managing her household with her husband and four children. Her family wholeheartedly embraces the Davidson lifestyle, frequently enjoying outings with friends at parks or leisurely strolls down Main Street. Maggie's deepest passion lies in her commitment to Jesus, evident in her role as Storyhill’s Kids Ministry Team Leader. She strives to be a helpful resource for parents as they guide their children in keeping Christ at the center of their lives. Don't hesitate to reach out to Maggie! She would love to connect.

Mandie Jester

  • Mandie, a devoted believer and interior designer, finds her greatest joy in being a mom to Gracie and Beau. She enjoys leisurely strolls through Hobby Lobby, the comfort of yoga pants, ticking items off her to-do list, and singing along in the car. Online shopping is another favorite pastime. Married to her high school sweetheart, Drew, Mandie cherishes moments with her family. Grateful for her role in supporting the dedicated staff, Mandie experiences God's faithfulness and remains inspired by His unfolding plans for her life.

Matt Glass

  • When he’s not teaching math or songwriting at a local high school, Matt leads the Worship & Arts Teams at Storyhill Church. He loves his wife and little girl dearly, along with ideating, building things, ultimate frisbee, working in the dirt, chess, good music, good conversation, good books, and most ice creams. Especially the ice creams. Oh, and encouraging people towards claiming, living, and celebrating their truest identities as uniquely gifted children of the King. That too.

Marc Dickmann

  • Marc finds deep joy in being a part of a staff and leadership team that is deeply committed to ensuring Jesus is at the center of the church. In the current cultural landscape, this level of commitment is considered a rare and valuable gift. Marc experiences immense joy in being part of such an inspiring mission and a vibrant church community. A fun fact about him is that before transitioning to full-time ministry in 1995, he was pursuing a career in sports broadcasting. Interestingly, he possesses a vibrant announcer voice that occasionally makes appearances at parties.

Michael Flake

  • Michael Flake, leading Storyhill Church, is a Davidson College graduate and Memphis native. He's a devoted husband to Mandi, a father to Indi & Cora, and a connoisseur of Dr. Pepper. With a penchant for Dylan's "Watchtower" and Chesterton's Orthodoxy, he's also a writer of Tabitha's Books and an INTJ pastor who majored in math. Combining personality elements of Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory and Puddleglum from The Silver Chair, Michael has a tender spot for those who feel excluded from God's family.

Patryck Chwalek

  • Patryck's life journey led him from Poland to Davidson through the gift of adoption. In 2015, after a period of doubt, he wholeheartedly committed to following Jesus, deeply impacted by the Gospel shared at Storyhill. With a diverse work background, Patryck values seamless operations that foster the growth of relationships. His passion lies in enhancing behind-the-scenes processes to unite people in Christ, creating a warm and inviting church for the cautious, curious, and committed. Outside of work, Patryck finds joy in watching college and fantasy football, hiking, spending time with old friends, and making new connections.

Samantha Whaley

  • Samantha is a former special education teacher who now brings her love for kids and passion for teaching to our Kids Ministry team. She’s all about helping kids feel seen, known, and loved as they grow in their understanding of who Jesus is. Whether she’s leading a Bible story or leading the room in a dance at Summer Nights, she’s right where she loves to be, helping little hearts find belonging in God’s big story. Outside of church, you can find her chasing chickens, riding dirt bikes (in her past), or making memories at the zoo with her two adorable kids.

Amy Sylvestre

  • Amy grew up on a farm just five miles from Storyhill, so serving here truly feels like coming home. She has served in ministry from New York City to Chicago, most recently working for a nonprofit that helped people move through pain toward purpose. Amy loves hearing people’s stories, thrifting for hidden treasures, and speaking just enough French to get by in Paris. She and her family are grateful to call Storyhill home.

Sarah Black

  • Sarah grew up in Asheville, and graduated from App State and will proudly remind you, at any opportunity, that she is a forever die-hard Mountaineer. Before joining Storyhill staff, she spent five years shaping tiny humans in education. She moved here five years ago, found a community that hugged her right in, and decided she wasn’t going anywhere. Sarah has served all over Storyhill… as a youth leader, in the nursery, and behind the scenes in communications. Somewhere along the way, she discovered she has a giant soft spot for stories and the people who carry them. Now she gets to spend her days helping tell Storyhill’s story and holding the stories of ministry partners with deep care (and usually with a big smile). Lighthearted, people-loving, and always ready to cheer someone on, Sarah brings passion, warmth, and a whole lot of heart to everything she does, especially here at Storyhill.

Jonathan Murphy

  • Jonathan Murphy grew up in Garner, NC, and studied Christian Studies and Psychology at Campbell University. After college, he moved to Davidson to participate in the Residency and Fellows programs and is now pursuing a master’s in Clinical Counseling at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Jonathan is passionate about walking with students through such a pivotal stage of life and helping them know they are created and deeply loved by God. In his free time, he enjoys reading, discovering new music and movies, going to the gym, trivia, and spending time with friends. (Fun fact: he can’t ride a bike, but he can pull off a great heel click!)

Sarah Jarvis

  • Sarah brings a joyful, bubbly energy to everything she does. She met and married her high-school best friend, who continues to be her biggest supporter and the one who makes her laugh the most. Together they have two amazing daughters, Addison and Lillian, who keep life full and fun. In her free time, Sarah LOVES creating, any craft, any project, she’s your girl. She believes laughter is truly the best medicine, especially when paired with cozy pajamas and snuggles from the family dog. Sarah is excited to walk alongside the next generation, helping them navigate who God created them to be and encouraging them every step of the way.

Tiffany Wilkinson

  • Tiffany's journey with the church community started in 2010, driven by her love for music and sustained by the welcoming atmosphere that feels like family. After years of overseas ministry and nonprofit work, she now calls Davidson home. Joining Storyhill in 2021, Tiffany initially served as the Kids and Youth Administrative Assistant, later taking on the role of Kids Ministry Team Interim and currently serving as the Communications Manager. Her focus is on working collaboratively with the church to emphasize loving God, loving people, and keeping Christ at the center. Tiffany lives by the life rules of having fun and embracing imperfection, and she welcomes visits with her and her fluffy dog, Walter Willoughby Stanley, during their town walks.

Bert Giles

  • Bert is a Charlotte native and a graduate of Davidson College. He and his wife, Megan, have been married since 2015 and enjoy spending time outdoors, whether at the beach, in the mountains, or exploring National Parks. With over 25 years in ministry, Bert is passionate about helping people discover how God can use their unique gifts and hearing the stories of how God is at work in their lives. He’s excited to help people at Storyhill connect with God and one another as we grow together. A fun fact about Bert… he loves BBQ kettle chips dipped in peanut butter (yes, really)!

Brittany Bible

  • Brittany grew up in Frostburg, Maryland, and spent nine years teaching English as a second language before moving with her family to Mooresville in 2025. Soon after arriving, they found Storyhill and quickly felt at home. She brings a love for people and a gift for organization to her role, helping foster hospitality and order that reflect Christ’s presence in every detail.

Elliot Squyres

  • Elliot grew up in Mooresville and has spent the last several years living in Charlotte. She brings a spunky spirit, genuine joy, and a big heart for people to the Storyhill team. Elliot loves good coffee, thrift stores, and making music, and she’s always up for an adventure. In fact, she loves road trips so much that she’s driven cross-country several times. Whether she’s creating, connecting with people, or exploring somewhere new, Elliot is passionate about helping others feel welcomed and known. She just finished the Fellows program here at Storyhill and we are so excited to have her on staff with us.

Cesar Guerrero

  • Cesar married his wife, Katie, in 2020 with a small outdoor wedding—courtesy of Covid’s guest list restrictions. They now have one daughter, Vienna, who keeps life lively. Originally from Texas, Cesar made his way to Davidson College and has happily called North Carolina home ever since. When he’s off the clock, you can usually find him laughing at classic Late Night with Conan O’Brien bits, vintage SNL sketches, or a good stand-up routine.

Katelyn King

  • Katelyn brings a genuine love for connection and a knack for organization. With experience in both the corporate world and ministry, she has spent the last several years shepherding kids, planning events, and coordinating volunteers in children’s ministry. She’s passionate about building systems that help people flourish in both community and ministry. Katelyn is excited to live out Storyhill’s mission to Grow Together and looks forward to helping every ministry partner feel welcomed, known, and connected. Outside of work, you’ll often find Katelyn outdoors with her husband and two kids, hiking, running, or camping. She also loves tending her garden and can never resist a good book.
