A Study of the book of Acts
This year, after we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus, we will launch into a lengthy study of the book of Acts, as we watch the Risen Jesus and his mission – and ultimately God the Holy Spirit – give birth to the church and propel it into the world to fulfill its purpose. All these centuries later, we at Storyhill are the continuation – at least a small part of it – of what we see happening in the book of Acts. May the words of Scripture reorient how we view both the deep love and the deep calling of our church … and each of us individually. Throughout the series, we will see and emphasize the themes of community and conflict and chiefly the Holy Spirit at work. And we will encourage, likely through a journal or something similar, each person at Storyhill to reflect on how they are joining in God’s mission and/or can take new steps to do so. Ultimately we hope to see Acts 16:5 in our corner of the world: “So the churches were strengthened in the faith and grew daily in numbers.”
Know: The resurrection of Jesus, his mission, and the Holy Spirit enliven and drive us forward, in continuity with the early church.
Do: Be attentive to the Holy Spirit's work in our lives and life together, that we might engage with Jesus’ mission with clarity.
