Lent, as the season of preparation for Easter, has historically been a time when Jesus’ followers reflect on our lives and our need for him. We will study through the highlights of the Old Testament book of Nehemiah, the leader through whom God mobilized his people to rebuild the broken walls and gates around the city of Jerusalem. As it recounts Nehemiah’s ordeal, the book turns our attention to matters for our own consideration. As we emphasize overlaps with key themes of Lent, like spiritual disciplines, we want to emphasize that no one person can tackle such a big task. But by God’s grace, with God’s help, for God’s glory, we can each grab a rock and do a little rebuilding.
Know: God calls us, in ways ordinary and extraordinary, to join him in the rebuilding work he is
doing.
Do: Take a step towards healing in a big, broken thing in your sphere of influence.
