Our modern life is not conducive to prayer. Sometimes our spirits can feel dry and thirsty for the Presence of God--like a dry, wilted plant in need of water or like a dry, hard sponge which can’t even function as a sponge until it gets some water! Practicing the Presence of God through prayer is living water for a thirsty soul, but most of us are so busy getting things done for God that we forget to be with God, allowing time and space for the Holy Spirit to bring living water to our spirits. The goal is for each participant to live into and experience these words that Paul wrote to the Ephesians (3:14-21): For this reason I kneel before the Father from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge — that you may be filled to the full measure of all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations for ever and ever! Bill and Katie Satterwhite will facilitate a day retreat for prayer on Saturday, August 1st from 9:00am to 3:00pm. This day is a chance to pull away from the busyness of life and join a smaller group for teaching, discussion, and experiencing the Presence of God through prayer in solitude and in a group. Rest assured: no one will call on you or make you pray out loud! Come and see and learn in a safe and quiet place where the love of God will fill your thirsty soul. The Adventure and Gift of Prayer will take place at Storyhill Church.
