Sermon Series | Old Testament, New Covenant

  • Storyhill Church Main Office 496 South Main Street Davidson, NC, 28036 United States (map)

Overview:

In an era of “doom scrolling” and increasing isolation, we remind ourselves that God has given us incredible gifts of community and purpose. He has given us a real, reliable and solid foundation on which to build a meaningful life. As we read in Hebrews 10:23 - Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.

Throughout this series, we will study the book of the Bible called Hebrews, which emphasizes (1) Jesus as the fulfillment of God’s work throughout history (esp throughout the Old Testament) and (2) how to live in light of Jesus (i.e. by faith). Eras come and go, and yet God’s plan has been unfolding since the creation of the world. There is great comfort to be found in the words of Augustine, who described the Testaments this way: In the Old, the New is concealed; in the New, the Old is revealed. We are invited to find our place and purpose in God’s compelling and coherent Story.

Know: Jesus is God’s ultimate fulfillment of his engagement with humanity, including each of us.

Do: Respond to his faithfulness by growing in Christ-centered maturity, even when it’s tough.
